Yep, it’s true! Thanks to popular demand, Trader Joe’s has announced that its tasting panel has approved vegan chocolate made with almond milk, and it’s all thanks to folks demanding more vegan food!
Trader Joe’s spilled the beans on today’s podcast:
Alison: “Our customers are asking for vegan items. Or for instance, we launched almond butter cups this past year. Almond butter was very popular in the grocery category, but we have peanut butter cups so why not almond butter cups.”
Tara: “That makes me think of a product that’s still sort of in development but has been approved by the tasting panel. It was milk chocolate but made with almond beverage. So it’s an almond beverage based milk chocolate as opposed to a dairy milk chocolate.”
“I wouldn’t have known the difference if I hadn’t been told. It just tasted like really good creamy milk chocolate. And I feel like our vegan customers are going to absolutely flip for that particular bar”. ~ Allison
